Back in the pilot’s seat!

June 22, 2018 by Kevin

It’s been 6  or so years since I sold the Sundowner, and basically quit flying. But, I figured it was time to “GO FLY!” So, I began to look for a plane, preferably something simple, inexpensive, and suited for what I expect to use it for. Those “long trips” with extra seats, well.. that turned out to be only an occasional value. Most of what I want to do is “local flying”, and basically short flights to lunch, or overnight to places like Half Moon Bay, Harris Ranch, or Columbia.

Four seats were no longer needed, and I had always loved my years having a Cessna 150. Maybe a Citabria or similar, as those were better flying machines. But fabric and outside storage would be unkind to the airplane. So, I “BY LUCK” found a 1970 Cessna 150K in excellent condition with relatively low hours, and everything maintenance wise done (propeller, new radio, new cylinder, good paint and windows….).  And bonus..it was at the home airport!

Since buying, I have been extremely happy. The airport has always been a haven of fantasy, wonder, and sanity, a magical place in this crazy world.

Having an airplane is good for the soul!

New Attitude! (Indicator, that is)

May 18, 2018 by Kevin

The attitude indicator on the Cessna failed.  It is likely original to the plane, so that’s 48 years.  The overhaul shop cannot repair it as there are no parts available for this vintage “paperweight”.  So, we called Rudy’s in Arkansas and they shipped out a replacement Edo-Air.  Looks nice.  Waiting to have it installed in the plane.  I am getting new panel shock mounts from Brian…   I had replaced those before on my first Cessna, the 1975 M model.  Panel trim has also been ordered and should arrive in a couple weeks.

Kealy

October 29, 2016 by Kevin

kealy-and-riley-webKealy is almost 17 weeks old (November 1st), and today went to his second “puppy school” lesson.  He was introduced to the proper way to walk on a leash.  Amazingly, food works very well in training a Golden Retriever puppy.  Here is a picture of Kealy in the backyard between our rain storms, with Riley.  Of course, Riley is enjoying a new chew toy that Sue bought for Kealy.
